COST BREAKDOWN OF A PLASTIC FREE SHOWER ROUTINE!💰🚿

Did you know that the average American female spends $737 a YEAR on shower products? (STUDY) I've had a 100% plastic free showering routine for 5 years now. Now, no pressure. This didn't happen in a day. It took me 2 years in total to use up all my plastic bottles, plastic razors, plastic loofahs I had been using up until i decided to go all in on zero waste living.

Needless to say, if you're committed to going zero waste with your shower routine, this journey will take you some time. & theres no rush! Remember the most sustainable product you have is the product that you already own.

NOW! Let's get into how much my zero waste shower routine costs me & how much it costs to maintain my routine for a year.

COST BREAKDOWN!💰

Shampoo & Conditioner Bars: for a set of the regular sized shampoo & conditioner bars it is $30. & typically depending on your hair length, thickness, texture & how frequently you typically wash (oh yeah, & how well you store them), 1 regular sized bar will last you around 4-6 months. So lets put you right in the middle at 5 months with 1 set, you will be spending around $60 on average for a years worth of all natural, 75% organic, zero waste shampoo & conditioner. Which is right on par with the national average of how much the average American spends every year on shampoo & conditioner. We also offer JUMBO sized shampoo & conditioner bars for those who prefer to just buy once a year, & lower their shipping emissions.

Face Wash: I feel like barred face wash is so slept on. Talk about saving money & saving the planet. $14 for a full bar of soap that can last you a year! that's .84 a month for zero waste face wash btw! A HACK: a customer of mine informed me 3 years ago that she was a loyal user of our Everyday Face Cleanser Bar & she could get her entire bar to last a YEAR & some change by slicing the bar up like a pizza (4 different slices) & just taking one small bar at a time into the shower with her to wash her face! She told me each mini bar lasted around 3-4 months & this helped her stretch the bar out to last a year. i did a video on her method a while back & i LOVE that she shared that with me (video) & she even left a review under the Everyday Face Cleanser Bar listing sharing her little secret so everyone can WIN! We also carry our Charcoal Face Cleanser bar (usually a mens favorite) for those who really struggle with greasy, acne prone skin.

Body Wash: Body wash can range from $8-$12 depending on the type of bar & the ingredients were using. (but also these can be bought almost everywhere, just make sure they come in sustainable packaging & not wrapped in plastic). But lets just say for example you're buying from my shop: through our BUY A SOAP, PLANT A TREE campaign, every body soap you buy will result in 1 tree being planted on your behalf. which is a fun way to support our planet while also supporting our skin. On average a bar of body soap on our site will cost you around $10. I can use a bar of soap in about 3 ish months. so thats $40 a year on body soap i spend. again, if you're on a tighter budget look into getting a Soap Sock or a good Soap Dish Tray for best storage so your bar doesn't melt away in the shower. You might find that getting liquid refills at your local refll shop suits you better & lasts you longer if you prefer using liquid! so that's another option.

Shave Soap Bar: this one is a goodie. It took my team & I a pretty long time to formulate such a rich frothy soap that will give off that creamy feeling just like the shaving cream you get in the can. But we did it & this stuff is the BOMB. Our Vanilla Shave Soap Bar is made with REAL rich vanilla extract to soothe the skin as you shave. One bar costs you $14 & will definitely get you to the year mark. So thats .84 a month on shaving soap! For the best results with our shave bar, use it along side of our Exfoliating Glove to help the soap froth up so it closely replicates the shaving cream you're already used to.

Reusable Safety Razor: Now this is a rare time in your zero waste shower routine where you buy it once, & never have to buy it again. The Safety Razors in our shop will cost you $42. With that you get 1 razor, 1 razor stand, & 5 double sided replacement blades (which should again last you close to a year it just depends on how often you're shaving & dulling the blades). $42 might sound like an expensive buy & that's because IT IS! BUT! you only have to buy it once, & you will have that puppy for life! & you can help out the planet A TON by not buying those pesky plastic razors that will inevitably end up in our oceans & landfills where they will live forever. NO NO!

Sisal Exfoliating Glove: say goodbye to those nasty plastic loofahs that hold more bacteria than their all natural counter parts! I love using sisal to wash my body because its pretty much infinitely reusable as long as you wash it in the washing machine every so often & take care of it! One Glove will cost you $12 on our site.

SO FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR I SPEND APPROX: $147 on my zero waste shower routine. which is exceedingly lower than the national average.
