HOW TO CLEAN YOUR SOAP SOCKS + EXFOLIATING GLOVES

Did you know that plastic loofahs harbor more bacteria in them than their all natural counterparts? That’s because plastic traps soap residue, & dead skin cells creating a breeding ground for bacteria growth. Natural loofahs made from sisal & loofahs are more porous & dry much quicker reducing the chances of bacterial growth.
On top of that they don’t shed microplastics & are far less abrasive than plastic.
My best recommendation (even outside of loofahs) is to use sisal. Which is made from the agave plant which grows all over the western region of the USA & all throughout Mexico, ABUNDANTLY!
This is how you best take care of you sisal gloves & sisal soap socks:
Option #1: you can simply wash them once a month in the washing machine with a load of your bath towels. A gentle all natural detergent is enough to get a majority of the soap residue off & clean your soap sock or glove. Dry in the sun & allow the sun to bleach any soap coloring left behind on the sock
Option #2: BOIL! One of my favorite methods is to boil your sisal sponges which takes little to no time & hang dry them outside. 5 mins of boiling will do the trick! Rinse in cold water & take outside to dry in the sun.
Option #3 (for a deep clean if mold is ever present, which is VERY RARE): do a very hot water soak with vinegar & allow gloves or sock to sit in water until it goes cold. If glove or sock is very dirty, add some dish soap into the water & scrub your sisal with your hands until all grime is freed. Sun dry when done.
How long should your sisal scrubber last? Honestly, if you’re cleaning them at least once a month using 1 of these methods, you can use them until the wheels fall off (or until they start to unravel). They are just a different form of a wash cloth made from the agave plant which is naturally anti microbial meaning they harbor less bacteria than all other body scrub options combined!
